This is a musical ghost story. Part one sets the ghostly scene while part two features a poem by Christina Rossetti. She was the sister of the famous Pre-Raphaelite painter, Dante Gabriel Rossetti. Alternative/Goth ? well, you decide...

Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
I've read quite a few 'Steampunk/Goth novels over the last few years. In fact, Big Sleep's first 'Albertropolis' musical adventure story was set in motion and recorded way back in 2009. Prior to that, I'd never though about creating 'Steampunk' music. So, as you can see, it's an ongoing theme for me. This was song originally a Big Sleep song called, 'A Haunted Picnic Table'. After re-writing all of the first section lyrics, only the original vocal melody and very few of Tony's original lyrics remain;(in this Major Snagg version at least).
Lyrics
'When I Am dead My Dearest', by Christina Rossetti. When I am dead, my dearest, Sing no sad songs for me; Plant thou no roses at my head, Nor shady cypress tree: Be the green grass above me, With showers and dewdrops wet; And if thou wilt, remember, And if thou wilt, forget. I shall not see the shadows, I shall not feel the rain; I shall not hear the nightingale, Sing on, as if in pain: And dreaming through the twilight, That doth not rise nor set, Happily I may remember, And happily may forget.

Oh the ebow beginnning!! And the jangle jangle of your signature guitar sound. Nice!!
The shadow of Syd Barrett is lurking in these corridors, I think. Cinematic and imaginative, a real pleasure to hear.

Wow...where to begin? A Brit Pop/Rock Beatlesque sound which undergoes a kind of metamorphosis and turns into Pink Floyd and much more besides. Love the change around 3:00 and the Rosetti part was truly inspirational. Conjures some great visuals and the different elements make for a very entertaining story. Excellent concept and execution.

Really nice tone with the e-bow David, a bit like Bill Nelson's cool vibe that he gets with his :) The chimes et al are very theatrical and make a nice transition as the story progresses and the narration takes you deeper in. Nice concept and enjoyable presentation all the way!

Cool, fun intro. Cool 'Brit' flavored vocals. Very nice guitar work. Cool clock & fx (thunder is always fun). Pink Floydish for me around the 2min mark. The bass and poetry section is very cool - nice job guys.
